About Mirjam
If I had to describe myself in two words it would be Practical Dreamer. I like to dream big, enjoy loosing myself in art and philosophy, love having long conversations about great possibilities for a better life and a better world. The other part of me is down-to-earth, practical, hands-on, temperate and goal-oriented. I use both parts to make dreams real. For myself and others.
I was born in the Netherlands but feel as a inhabitant of the world. After several years of traveling through Europe I decided to move to Tenerife. I feel at home living under the sun and in my spare time I am enjoying the local cuisine, walking through the extraordinary nature and taking siestas. šĀ The climate here gives me peace and the culture makes it easy to enjoy and connect.
My Story: Who do you want to be?
“Who do you want to be when you grow up?”
I was 13 when a good friend asked me this question.
My response was simple. “I want to be happy.”
And that has been my mission ever since, for myself and others. š
My Background
Born out of a fascination for other (ancient) cultures, philosophy, foreign languages and art, I studied Humanities in the Netherlands (Utrecht) with a specialisation in Greek and Latin Culture. I completed my Master in 2007.
After my graduation I had no idea what to do with my life. I performed several jobs in (international) sales and marketing, was involved with start-ups in the areaās of sustainability, art, handicrafts and gastronomy. I always kept searching, because no job truly felt right. Until I decided to start my own business in 2013. A scary decision that marked a new direction in my life.
With my company Mirworkx I assisted other entrepreneurs with their authentic marketing and developed myself as an entrepreneur. Over the years my work gradually evolved from marketing assistance, to strategy development, to consulting and coaching. In 2016 I started to coach heart-centered and mission-driven entrepreneurs to set up their business.
My Personal Quest
For the largest part of my life I have been on a personal quest trying to find out who I am, what I was supposed to do with my life, how I could be happy and make the world a better place.
I have tried many dead-end roads in my studies, work and relationships resulting in chronic energy diseases, depression, burn-outs and debts. I also lost dear loved ones which had a deep impact on the way I look at life.
After 20 years of personal development, therapies, coaching, books and courses I discovered the answer to all my questions: Be true to yourself, follow your intuition and pave your own path.
It is in this truth that I finally stopped searching and started finding. As a result I got more insights in my qualities, am able to accept my weaknesses (more and more ;-), balance my work and life better, make selfcare a daily practice, developed a spiritual worldview and created a healthy lifestyle. This is the basis for my work and life.
By accepting myself exactly as I am, I am making choices that are good for me, feel in touch with my intuition, have the courage to make difficult choices and pave my own path. Most of all I realise that life is a process that is to be enjoyed day by day, moment by moment. No need to run towards goals or force outcomes as all works out at the right time and in the right place.
